Final 12 - X Factor 2007 and 2006

In a shock result, Scotsman Leon Jackson beat Welsh Wonder Rhydian Roberts to take the X Factor crown. He landed a £1 million record contract and 2007's Christmas No 1. Bookies had Rhydian as red hot 1/3 favourite. At the time, Ladbrokes spokesman Nick Weinberg, said: "Leon's win is the biggest shock in the history of reality TV betting." The Scot, a 6/1 outsider going into the final, saved the bookies from a mammoth payout.

The Minogues kept it in the family; Dannii was Leon's mentor and Kylie performed a duet with him. She took to the stage in a show-stopping skin-tight black lace outfit to sing her hit Better The Devil You Know with the West Lothian 18-year-old. In tears, a stunned-looking Leon said: "It just means the world... I love singing." Leon's got a long way to go to match Leona Lewis' achievements; she has had huge success on both sides of the Atlantic. Learn more about the other acts who sang live on Saturday nights and relive memories of The X Factor 2007 and 2006 and  in our gallery below.
