Jamie Afro Gets Simon Singing

Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue continue their search for a new singing star on X Factor. So far, it's the male auditionees that are getting all the headlines.

Last week, teacher Danyl Johnson stole the show; a sensation on YouTube, he's even aroused the interest of US television. On Saturday, it was all about Jamie Archer, also known as Jamie Afro. The 33-year-old Londoner rocked the house with his audition.

A striking presence on the stage, he definitely stood out; his version of Sex on Fire by Kings of Leon got the audience on its feet. What's more, viewers were treated to the rather disconcerting sight of Simon Cowell singing along. Host Dermot O'Leary was so astonished, he made a point of singling the moment out.

Despite constant effort and many years playing clubs and pubs, Jamie Afro never made it to the big time - until he decided to try X Factor. Needless to say, he sailed into the Boot Camp stage, but can he go even further?

This year, the live auditions were held at: Manchester Central, Birmingham's ICC, Cardiff's CIA, London's Excel Centre and Glasgow's Braehead Arena. In our gallery, we take a look back at some of the hopefuls featured on the second show.
