Strictly: The Road To The Final
![]() |
What a shocker this series of Strictly Come Dancing has turned out to be. We had the curse of EastEnders as former stars of the BBC soap fell by the wayside early. Then there was the John Sergeant saga...
Let's not forget the semi-final fiasco too. With model Lisa Snowdon and singer Rachel Stevens being tied at the top of the judges' leader board and both receiving maximum points as a result, Holby City actor Tom Chambers could not have been saved from the dance-off no matter how many public votes he received. There were originally meant to be three couples in the final, but veteran broadcaster John Sergeant's decision to quit threw the elimination process out of kilter. It was initially decided to continue voting off one couple each week and have just two in the final, but the show has now reverted to its original plan...albeit completely unintentionally.
It's fair to say that of the three remaining celebrities, Tom Chambers is the surprise package; he's seen off the much-fancied (in all senses of the word) Austin Healey who was a previous bookies' favourite. Rachel Stevens was widely expected to reach the final and former model Lisa Snowdon was viewed as a contender early on too.
