Jungle Joe Wins I'm A Celebrity
Joe Swash was crowned King of the Jungle in 2008's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! The former EastEnders actor won the public vote ahead of tennis ace Martina Navratilova. Earlier actor George Takei, best known as Star Trek's Mr Sulu, was booted off the final to boldly go into third place. Joe, the sixth celebrity to become a jungle King, hugged Martina after he won saying: "You're my Queen, darling." He told presenters Ant and Dec: "It's been an amazing three weeks. It's been everything, It's been ups, it's been downs. It was just a lovely experience and I'm definitely coming out a much maturer man than I was when I went in there. It's been worthwhile," he added. Joe played wideboy Mickey Miller but was axed from the soap in February. The actor, who has a 17-month-old son, seemed to spend most of his time in the jungle kissing Star Trek legend George Taki. But in between the kissing, he and his fellow contestants found the time to fight (David Van Day and everyone), fart (Joe Swash) and eat stomach-churning morsels including cockroaches, silkworms and kangaroo testicles. This year's other sufferers were: Brian Paddick, Carly Zucker, Dani Behr, David Van Day, Esther Rantzen, Nicola McLean, Robert Kilroy-Silk, Simon Webbe and Timmy Mallett. All gross things must come to an end and perhaps it's no surprise that ex EastEnder Joe had the shortest odds to win in the show's history. Ultimately, he ticked all the right boxes.
