Robin Cousins is one of Britain's best known and most-loved individual ice skaters. Born in Bristol on August 17, 1957, he started skating at nine-years-old and won his first National title aged 12 as a Novice; he was Junior Champion at 14 and made his international debut that same year. He made the British international team at the age of 15. He represented Great Britain as an amateur skater for eight years, winning the National Senior Championships for three consecutive years.

He won the World Free Skating Championship gold medal three times and had a phenomenal year in 1980; his amateur ice skating career culminated in winning the European Championship gold and the Olympic gold at Lake Placid in the USA. His career saw him score perfect 6.0 after 6.0, especially for artistic impression. Little wonder he was voted the BBC Sports Personality Of The Year and was awarded the MBE for his services to sport and skating.

A highly successful career as a professional skater followed and in 2000, Robin formed his own theatre and event production company, called Cousins Entertainment Ltd. For several years, Robin has been a regular guest presenter and commentator for BBC television, for the European and World Figure Skating Championships and the 2006 Winter Olympics.

In addition to his own skating, Robin has juggled numerous other careers. He is a successful choreographer for other skaters, a TV commentator, costume designer, owns his own production company, producing ice skating events and non-ice events.

Robin retired from the ice rink in 2000 after over 30 years on the ice and 20 years of professional skating. ITV first secured his services as head of the Dancing On Ice judging panel back in 2006 and he's back yet again for the fourth series.
