Celebrity Big Brother's Most Memorable

Over the years, Celebrity big Brother has given us the kind of television we never thought we'd see.

After five series of watching washed-up stars and wannabes losing their minds and being at each other's throats, Channel 4 has managed to find enough celebrities crazy enough to enter the Big Brother house in 2009 for another series of Celebrity Big Brother. We look back at some of the most memorable moments from past shows.

Vanessa Feltz Cracks Up

The first series for Comic Relief in 2001 only lasted eight days. Fading chat show host Vanessa, still reeling from her divorce, was evicted on Day Four, but still had time to completely lose the plot. Although it could have just been one big act.

After being given chalk for a task Vanessa started writing words all over the dining table while muttering under her breath in what appeared to be a mental breakdown and call for help. When called to the Diary Room she lost it again screaming obscenities.

Jack Dee's Great Escape

Grumpy comedian Jack Dee had been persuaded to do the show for Comic Relief in the first series, but after managing not to be evicted he decided to escape from the house. He evaded security at the studios for about an hour before he was brought back to the house and went on to win the show.

Les Dennis Down in The D umps

In the second series in 2002, comedian and Family Fortunes presenter Les Dennis went into the house still dealing with his break-up from wife Amanda Holden.

Les appeared to be suffering from depression and rather than cheering everybody up he brought the mood in the house right down, moaning to everyone, even the house chickens and Big Brother about how miserable he was. But he must have won sympathy as he was runner-up.

But Les hasn't been put off reality TV, saying recently: "I don't think I'd do I'm A Celebrity, but I would never say never because things like Hell's Kitchen I think are great because you learn to do something.

"We just sat on the sofa in Big Brother. Certainly when it comes to Strictly, why not?"

Jackie Stallone Suffers Without Servants

Jackie was 83 when she entered the house in 2005. Big Brother hoped to stir things up by putting her in when former daughter-in-law - Sylvester Stallone's ex Brigitte Nielsen, with whom she had shared a public and venomous feud, was already there.

Brigitte and Jackie resolved their differences in the house, but Jackie still annoyed many of her other housemates and was hugely entertaining for viewers. People were amazed at her inability to do simple tasks for herself such as make a cup of tea or open a bottle of wine, but she defended herself saying she was used to having servants.

George Galloway The Kitty Cat

Bethnal Green and Bow MP George attracted anger from the very moment he entered the house in 2006. A special website was set up calculating the amount of council tax his constituents were paying while he was lounging around in the house.

The cigar smoking, arrogant Scotsman humiliated himself even further when he took his flirting with actress Rula Lenska to ridiculous levels.

George got down on all fours pretending to be a cat, while Rula fussed over him and let him pretend to lap milk from her cupped hands. The nation cringed.

Preston and Chantelle

Chantelle Houghton was a wannabe who was put into the house in 2006 to show the housemates how meaningless their celebrity was. But she managed to capture the nation's hearts and also that of Ordinary Boys singer Preston. He already had a fiancee, Camille, outside the house, who was the complete opposite of Chantelle - sedate, sophisticated and clever. But viewers could see the sparks fly between Preston and Chantelle as they spent more and more time together in the house.

When non-celebrity Chantelle won the show and Preston split from Camille it seemed destiny for the CBB lovers to become an item. But they got wed too soon in the public eye and their marriage fell apart almost as quickly as it began.

Jade Goody In CBB5

Reality stars Jade, her mother Jackiey Budden and her boyfriend Jack Tweed were sent into the house to stir things up among the 'true' celebs in 2007.

Jade had clearly been briefed by BB bosses that with Michael Jackson's brother Jermaine in the house, she would be the ideal candidate to seize the opportunity and grill him for the truth about the King of Pop's life.

Shortly after entering the house Jade cornered Jermaine in the sitting room and quickly rattled through all the most burning questions about Michael. She asked if his family had supported him through his child sex abuse trial and if he was traumatised by the allegations even though he was cleared; if he was bankrupt, why his skin was white and if he was addicted to plastic surgery.

Jermaine calmly fended off Jade's probing interview technique, and little more about Michael than we already knew was revealed.

Jermaine sighed: "The world is ugly, certain people. It's sad."

Bullying In CBB5

Reality TV star Jade, glamour model Danielle Lloyd and ex pop singer Jo O'Meara didn't like Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty. Maybe it was because she had actual talent, fame and fortune to back up her celebrity status.

With the three girls b****ing behind her back things got nasty and Shilpa began to feel she was being bullied.

While drunk, Danielle made some rather inappropriate remarks about Shilpa that some viewers interpreted as racist.

Then Jade and Shilpa had a heated row over a chicken and viewers' complaints rocketed. Jade left in disgrace and Shilpa went on to win the show.
