Britain's Got Talent first appeared on our TV screens back in June 2007. Its unique selling point is the vast array of acts showcased - from dance troupes and singers to dancing sheep, performing dogs and horses, magicians and comedians, contortionists and ventriloquists.
Little wonder Simon Cowell's called it "the most barmy" show he's ever worked on. Crazy it may be, but what it has also done is discover talent that may well have remained under the radar. Would Paul Potts be where he is without Britain's Got Talent? I doubt it.
With such a wide variety of hopefuls auditioning, it's not easy standing out from the crowd. But some have managed it. In addition to the winners, we catch up with a few favourites from Britain's Got Talent. Find out how the show has changed the lives of the likes of Strike and Escala.

The very latest news, views and interviews plus pictures, video and fun blog updates in our Britain's Got Talent special.
