Amanda and Brian became very close

Amanda Marchant and her twin Sam have become the joint runners-up in Big Brother 8.

The 19-year-olds were thrilled that their friend, and Amanda's love interest, had won, screaming "we love Brian!"

In their hyper exit interview, Davina told the girls that they had never been nominated by their fellow housemates throughout the 13-week show, to which they replied: "We were friends of all of them and we love them."

They both agreed that their favourite moment was when they were allowed to be evicted together, saying they couldn't have got through the experience alone.

Amanda admitted to Davina that she was having second thoughts after turning down a relationship with Brian. Saying: "He's dead sweet."

One half of the "twincredible" duo with Sam - the first ever twins on the show - her first words on joining the house were: "Oh my God it's pink." Presumably excited that it matched her outfit?

Although five minutes younger than her sister, student Amanda is the more dominant of the pair. But the twins made clear from the start: "If there's only one fit boy in the house we'll share him, definitely!"

The girls also said they found politics confusing and wouldn't know who to vote for.

Their apparent girlie innocence proved popular in the show from the start, although some were suspicious. Nicky commented: "They do have fun, but I think there's more to them than that."

Weeks before the end of the competition the girls decided that they would be treated as one housemate - even though the move meant automatically putting themselves up for eviction.

The pair are so close that they have even claimed to have had the same dream in the house.

The picture of niceness, one of their naughtiest move had been to steal chocolate together from the kitchen.

Amanda and Sam's popularity in the house was evident early on, when Gerry and Seany chose the twosome to join them on the Nominations Board, to decide who would be up for eviction.

Gerry pointed out: "Honesty and innocence are very, very good strengths and if we can say for certain that anyone doesn't have a game plan, it's the twins."

But Amanda hasn't had a completely easy ride.

After Carole declared she had the deadly sin of pride, she was made to wear a hot dog outfit by Big Brother, much to the amusement of other housemates.

She was also lumbered with a big bandage on her upper right thigh after a dance move in the garden went slightly wrong (although this did help to differentiate her from Sam).

And for the twosome's 19th birthday in the house, BB refused to provide them with alcohol, cake or music.

But their typical chirpiness still won the day, as they sang their away through Jingle Bell Rock, and the rest of the housemates attempted a line dance, followed by musical chairs and Chinese whispers.

She kindled a romance with Brian in the second half of the series. At one point he coaxed her onto his lap and said: "She's one of the best girls ever. Amanda's such a lovely girl. She's just as much of a novice as I am.

"You've always been nice to everyone. You're so modest and you never take any of this on board. That makes you even better."

Brian then blurted: "I love you!"

The pair cosied up in the caravan after glugging loads of cider - with Essex boy Brian declaring it "the best day ever".

But that feeling didn't last. Delicate Amanda was beside herself later, muttering: "What am I going to do? Oh, this is not a good idea."

Having admitted to second thoughts, who knows what will happen outside the house?
