Spoiler: The end of the affair?

Coronation Street fans have been hooked on Ken Barlow's affair with Martha Fraser for weeks now.

When she found out he was a married man the other day, the amateur actress decided to give him a wide berth.

However, next week Ken will decide to pack his bags, leave his home, his wife and his nagging mother-in-law and go and live with Martha on her barge.

Deirdre and Blanche are enjoying a day out, so Ken plans to make his break while leaving a note for his wife.

Alas, Peter catches him in the act and gives him a good talking to, claiming he hasn't got the guts and will be back before the end of the day.

Much to Martha's delight, Ken does make it to the barge, but while she is making plans for their future he does another vanishing act.

By the time Ken returns home, he's grateful that Peter snatched the note before Deirdre got a chance to read it.

Ken could say nothing, but when he eventually decides to come clean, he's amazed by Deirdre's response, and even more alarmed by her reaction to Blanche's interfering.
