Emmerdale's Eric Pollard is finally set to discover the cost of his underhand tactics.
The slimy councillor's son David will disown him in upcoming episodes.
Having decided to run for the position currently occupied by his dad, David is shocked when Eric (Chris Chittell) holds no punches in upstaging him - but it seems there is more to it.
Uniting the villagers to oppose the Wylde's closure of a public footpath, David is appalled when Eric seemingly swoops in to save the day, revealing he has already settled the issue.
However, Leyla reveals to David she thinks there's something shifty going on and voices her suspicion that Eric and Nathan are in cahoots.
David confronts his father in the Woolpack, where Val makes things worse by organising a public debate between the pair.
A horrified David storms out, telling Eric he wants nothing more to do with him.
