Royle Family star Ralf Little said he is looking forward to getting his hands dirty by volunteering at a top-class disability swimming competition.
The actor - who played Antony Royle in the TV series - hopes his involvement at this month's Nationwide Short Course Swimming Championships at Ponds Forge in Sheffield will help boost the number of volunteers in sport.
"What better way than to get my hands dirty and join the hundreds of volunteers who help them annually?" said the star, who has helped the Disability Sport Events with fundraising.
"I love sport, so supporting disabled athletes in their ambition to win gold will be great fun as well as rewarding.
"I want my involvement to mean more than just putting my face and voice to the events."
