Kym Marsh has revealed she is scared to try for another baby after losing her premature son moments after he was born.

The Coronation Street star gave birth to Archie Jay in February, when she was just four months pregnant.

She is now taking part in a Tonight programme investigation into why so many babies are born prematurely, and appeared on This Morning to discuss the project.

Asked if she'd be frightened to try again, Kym said: "Absolutely, yeah, and a lot of the ladies I spoke to felt the same way."

The actress, who already has two children, said the experience is still "very very painful" to discuss, but was persuaded by the high statistics and the fact that her 15-year-old son David who, born at 33 weeks, was also premature.

She said: "I want to know why they happened to me, and I want to know what might happen in the future. If I was to try again, I would want to know that I was being looked after and maybe some steps were being taken to make sure they were monitoring me more closely."

The 33-year-old said it was a "very traumatic thing" to go through, adding: "You do go home and your body is still doing all the things it would normally do [after giving birth] but you have no baby. So it's very very hard to try and channel all those feelings somewhere else. It's very difficult and you're just left with this feeling."
