TV Shows That Lost It

Eric McCormack and Debra Messing (Image © Channel 4)

Remember US sitcom Will & Grace? The first four seasons were synonymous with smart writing, top-notch performances and cool cameos. It was in vogue, darling; the show on everyone's lips.

But as the episodes totted up, much of the panache and wit that had characterised the first few seasons disappeared. Daft scenarios dragged on waaaay too long and some plotlines stretched credibility further than Kevin Costner as Robin Hood.

Formerly a Channel 4 primetime stalwart, it ended its days shunted around the broadcaster's schedule at various times after midnight. I'll be the first to admit that Will & Grace ran out of steam.

Funnily enough, it's an accusation that can be levelled at many TV shows. I've lost count of the number that continued (or are still on air) when they should've done a Fawlty Towers or The Sweeney and gone out at their bestSee why the following shows have made our gallery of the TV shows that lost it. The reasons may surprise you…
