TV's Hottest Couples

Romantic relationships are at the heart of so many TV programmes; from sitcoms to dramas, soaps to period pieces and from sci-fi to reality TV even (Katie Price and Peter Andre, pre-split anyone?).

The very first TV couple I found myself rooting for was Cheers' Sam Malone and Diane Chambers way back in the early 1980s. I willingly invested years watching them flirt and fight and even though it ultimately wasn't to be, they're still the tops.

If you want the definition of sexual tension, you won't get better than the womanising bar owner and his snobby waitress. Without Sam and Diane, there wouldn't have been Moonlighting's Maddie Hayes and David Addison, Friends' Ross and Rachel or Grey's Anatomy's McDreamy and Meredith. We have them to thank, probably more than any other couple, for all the will they/won't they scenarios writers now make us endure. See our gallery for some of the hottest TV couples ever.
