Corrie Wins Battle Of The Soaps

Coronation Street has scooped the Best Soap award at the Inside Soap Awards, nabbing the title from EastEnders for the first time in more than ten years. Corrie and EastEnders both won five awards at the ceremony, but the Mancunian soap went home with the top accolade for the first time ever.

 

Antony Cotton was victorious in the Best Actor category for his performance as Sean Tully in Coronation Street, and his colleague Rob James-Collier (Liam Connor) won Best Newcomer and Sexiest Actor. The girls of Albert Square picked up a clutch of awards, as Lacey Turner (Stacey Slater) claimed the Best Actress prize, as well as the Best Couple award alongside her on-screen fiancé Charlie Clements (Bradley Branning.)

 

Kara Tointon, who plays Dawn, shimmied off with the title of Best-Dressed Soap Star, and Sophie Thompson (Stella Crawford) won Best Bitch. Emmerdale won two gongs, while Hollyoaks' Roxanne McKee was named Sexiest Actress, taking home the teen soap's only award.
