Vampire Weekend to DJ 'prom' in New York tonight (May 21)
Vampire Weekend, LCD Soundsystem and Hercules & Love Affair are all set to DJ at a prom-themed benefit in New York tonight (May 21).
The event, entitled 'The Prom You Were Promised', will take place at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg and will benefit 826NYC, a nonprofit organisation "dedicated to supporting students ages six to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write".
As previously reported, Vampire Weekend took time out from recording their second album to perform an intimate show at Joe's Pub in the city earlier this month during which they performed a cover of Tom Petty's 'Walls'.
Meanwhile, the side project of Vampire Weekend keyboard player Rostam Batmanglij and Ra Ra Riot singer Wes Miles have announced that they will release their first full album this summer.
The pair, who started the Discovery project in 2007, will release the ten-track self-titled album on July 7.
