The NME Awards, which took place at the 02 Brixton Academy last night (February 25), provided their usual antidote to the previous week's more conservative BRITs. Well, that was the idea anyway. But with Oasis picking up Best British Band and Blur performing and presenting, it all felt a bit 1995 in places.
Selected highlights included The Cure picking up a richly deserved Godlike Genius award, former bandmates Pete Doherty and Carl Barat appearing to be on good terms, and Oasis being booed both for winning and not turning up.
