Classical Brits nominees announced

Katherine Jenkins and former X Factor contestant Jonathan Ansell are among the nominees for the Classical Brit Awards.
Soprano Katherine and Jonathan, who first hit the headlines singing in operatic boy band G4 on the reality TV show, are both up for the album of the year gong, Katherine for Sacred Arias and Jonathan for Tenor At The Movies.
Other nominees - announced today at a launch event hosted by Myleene Klass - include James Howard Newton, who was shortlisted twice in the soundtrack of the year category, once for futuristic Will Smith thriller I Am Legend and once for Batman movie The Dark Knight.
Trumpeter Alison Balsom, who won the best young performer Brit in 2006, is nominated for the female artist of the year award alongside opera singers Anna Netrebko and Danielle De Niese.
The winners will be revealed at the Classical Brits Awards ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall on May 14, which will be hosted by Myleene.
