Girl bands have been around since the 1960s, the original all-female group being The Supremes. They set the bar for all future girl groups with their harmonies, matching outfits and stage performances. Following in their wake have been bands such as Bananarama (who have recently reformed), American super-group Destiny's Child and of course, the Spice Girls.
