The Script

U2 meets Timbaland in what some are calling Celtic Soul…

In a film full of them, perhaps the most memorable quote from The Commitments comes when Jimmy Rabbitte tells his reluctant soul band, "Do you not get it, lads? The Irish are the blacks of Europe. And Dubliners are the blacks of Ireland."

The Script certainly get it. Born and bred in the Irish capital but with an obsessive love of (contemporary) black American music, they are spearheading an exciting new musical form some are calling Celtic Soul - think U2 with the production values of Timbaland.

Their debut single, We Cry, is the perfect showcase of the trio's talents. A socially conscious lyric which owes much to hip-hop set to a rock melody and delivered with the vocal aplomb of an R&B singer, it can't fail to cause a stir.
