Jim Morrison's grave in Paris - © Rex

Referred to as 'that stupid club' by Kurt Cobain's mother after he shot himself 15 years ago today, the Forever 27 Club refers to the spookily high number of rock musicians who departed this world during their 28th year. In addition to Cobain, other famous members include Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison.

While you'd have to be a dope-smoking conspiracy theorist of the worst kind to think there was anything genuinely sinister about all this, it nonetheless makes interesting reading - as does the number of musicians who narrowly missed joining by dying a year either side of the magic 27.
