IT'S BEEN A GOOD WEEK FOR:

 

Anyone who wants to be in a girl band
If you’ve ever fancied yourself as a member of a chart-topping girl group, you probably won’t have to wait too much longer for your big chance, judging by the rate the Sugababes are getting through members. In a week of high drama, rumours initially surfaced that Amelle had gone AWOL, and it was expected by just about everybody that her departure would be announced, to be replaced by Jade Ewen. But wait! Bombshell! Days later, an official statement declared that it would be founding member Keisha Buchanan who was being bundled through the Sugababes’ revolving door, after apparently coming out the loser when she dished out a ‘Amelle or me’ ultimatum.

Girls about town
This week London has witnessed wild partying, outlandish outfits, and rampant over-competitiveness. No, not the WAGs at the World Cup, but London Fashion Week. So after seven days of cutting-edge catwalk shows, celebrations and showing off, what have we learned? Well, Victoria Beckham looks really, really thin and orange. Alexa Chung and Pixie Geldof will go to the opening of a fashion envelope. Agyness Deyn has a ‘unique’ sense of personal style. Vogue editor Anna Wintour is not the friendliest girl in the playground and David Walliams likes a night out with a group of attractive ladies. Hmmm, pretty much just like any other week then…

Jeff Brazier
Aww, there’s nothing like a happy ending. Or, in fact, a happy beginning. While Jack Tweed has done little to endear himself to the British public since the death of Jade Goody, her ex-partner and father of her two children Jeff Brazier has behaved like a model dad at all times. From the point where he took Freddie and Bobby to Australia to avoid the hysteria surrounding Jade’s funeral, he’s strived to give the boys as normal a childhood as possible. But what about Jeff himself? Doesn’t he deserve some happiness of his own? A few months ago, he claimed that the boys were his priority and love would have to wait. But this week we were thrilled to learn that he’s started dating model Julia McMillan. You better treat him right, Julia, or you’ll have us to answer to!

Footballers’ finances
When it comes to WAGs, we love a good romance. Wayne ’n’ Coleen, Steven ’n’ Alex… it warms the cockles of our hearts. But don’t get us wrong, we also love a truly spectacular break-up. Cardiff City’s Michael Chopra married Wags Boutique star Heather Swan in summer 2008, but sadly a happy future together, with ridiculously named children and a 12-bedroomed house in a gated development, was not to be. After reportedly rowing in front of guests the morning after their wedding, the pair endured a fractious honeymoon, and then separated after four weeks. They were reconciled, but seven months into their marriage, Michael allegedly found out it was over when Heather changed her status to 'single' on Facebook. Now, according to the Daily Mail, Heather is aiming to tuck a divorce settlement of £3 million into her designer handbag, which works out at £3,600 a minute.

The Hoff
There have long been reports that living legend David Hasselhoff enjoys a beverage or two. Earlier this year, his daughter Hayley raised the alarm when she found her dad collapsed through suspected alcohol poisoning – and he was taken to hospital, the fifth time he’s been admitted after over-indulging. This week, it was speculated that once again Hayley had been forced to ring her mum and tell her that the Hoff was dangerously over the limit. An ambulance was called and David was taken to hospital in California. However, David denied accusations that he was suffering from alcohol poisoning, stating he had an ear infection and became ill after mixing his medication with an anti-alcohol treatment. David’s dramatic dash to hospital came after he had filmed the final of America’s Got Talent. We’ve seen some of those acts and, to be honest, earache or over-imbibing, both explanations are equally understandable.

Repeat offenders
Oh Sophie, Sophie Anderton. You make Kerry Katona look as clean-living as Gwyneth Paltrow. This week the troubled model was caught on camera by The Sun snorting cocaine, just a short time after appearing on the Jeremy Kyle show and claiming she was clean. During the interview, Sophie revealed that her cocaine addiction was so severe that she “probably did” sleep with men for money in order to fund the habit. Previously the model has been declared bankrupt, been filmed offering to have sex with a fake sheikh in return for money, and earlier this year, appeared in public with a black eye after an alleged bust-up with her ex-boyfriend Ed Buxton, who was arrested after police were called. Poor old Soph. Despite her claims that she’s getting her life back on track, it seems she still has an awful long way to go.
