Sir Terry Wogan's army of fans are launching an internet campaign to get their hero his first ever No 1 single, the veteran broadcaster has said.

The TOGs are planning to get Sir Terry to the top spot before he leaves his morning slot on Radio 2 on December 18.

At the launch of his charity single, a cover of The Beatles' hit All You Need Is Love, Sir Terry said: "I'm quietly confident. I got to No 3 last year, let's go for it."

He continued: "When I was 12 years of age I got to No 15 with a song called Floral Dance but I've never had a No 1. It's really about charity though, for Children in Need, this will be as much Pudsey's No 1 as mine."

Chief TOG Norman Macintosh said: "We want him to have a No 1 for his last week of broadcasting. We got him to No 3 last year so let's go two better. The TOGs are an influential bunch."

Sir Terry, who will be replaced by Chris Evans in December, has 7.76 million listeners tuning in each week. He jokingly refers to his fans as TOGs, which stands for Terry's Old Geezers or Terry's Old Gals.

The single All You Need Is Love will raise money for Children In Need and is available in shops on Monday November 9.

Up: MSN Review

So, it’s about an old man flying away on an adventure by attaching a huge bunch of helium balloons to his house. Even for the talented craftspeople at Pixar, who successfully brought us a near-silent film about robots last year, this seems far-fetched. We needn’t have worried though. Up is the best Pixar film since Toy Story.

Wimbledon Aces

With Wimbledon 2009 in full swing, err… serve, the top tennis players from around the world are focused entirely on their game. As they run up and down the court screaming with exertion, the rest of us non-pros can't help but judge them on something other than their passing shots; that's right, how good looking they are.
