Former Neighbours star Caitlin Stasey has landed the lead role in a movie adaptation of a teen novel Tomorrow: When The War Began, according to reports.
The actress, who played Rachel Kinski in the soap, will play Ellie Linton, the heroine in author John Marsden's series of books following a band of teenagers waging a guerrilla war on the enemy soldiers in their fictional home town.
The teenager, who left Neighbours earlier this year after four years, told the Herald Sun she was "ecstatic" to get the part.
She said: "I have a lot of respect for Ellie's character and feel privileged to be playing such an inspirational young female role."
First-time director Stuart Beattie said Caitlin "captured the perfect balance of intelligence, vulnerability and strength that is essential to this character."
Filming is due to begin at the end of September in New South Wales.

So, it’s about an old man flying away on an adventure by attaching a huge bunch of helium balloons to his house. Up is the best Pixar film since Toy Story.
