Laura White looks set to land a record deal after being booted off The X Factor. The 21-year-old's dismissal from the show last Saturday has been criticised by viewers who thought she was one of the best.

But now three record companies are hoping to secure a deal with her, the Daily Record reports.

She is apparently banned from deals until January under her The X Factor contract, but execs are more than willing to wait for her.

Laura's dad Adrian, 50, told the Daily Record: "Monday was very positive. She was contacted by two or three record companies who wanted to speak to her about a solo deal.

"It gave her such a lift. She had more meetings on Tuesday.

"One of the companies (is) very big. It's discussion time at the moment but it sounds very, very positive."

An online petition to reinstate Laura has received 21,000 signatures and William Hill are offering 16-1 on her returning to the show.

Up: MSN Review

So, it’s about an old man flying away on an adventure by attaching a huge bunch of helium balloons to his house. Even for the talented craftspeople at Pixar, who successfully brought us a near-silent film about robots last year, this seems far-fetched. We needn’t have worried though. Up is the best Pixar film since Toy Story.

Wimbledon Aces

With Wimbledon 2009 in full swing, err… serve, the top tennis players from around the world are focused entirely on their game. As they run up and down the court screaming with exertion, the rest of us non-pros can't help but judge them on something other than their passing shots; that's right, how good looking they are.
