Move over Twilight... the original teen hunk is back in town to regain his crown. The screaming girls came out for Zac Efron at the premiere of his new movie, Me and Orson Welles, but the noise was considerably more hushed than usual - maybe the rest of his dedicated fans are too busy following Robert Pattinson's every move these days.

Rihanna wowed the crowds in London as she performed a 'secret' gig at the Brixton Academy to promote her new album, Rated R. Competition winners and VIPs (including Adele, Keisha Buchanan, Tinchy Stryder and Emma Bunton) were entertained by all the hits, two costume changes and a surprise appearance by her mentor, rapper Jay-Z. Rihanna later headed up the guest list at her star-studded aftershow party...

It was a suitably mixed bag of stars showing their face at the Variety Club Showbiz Awards in London, which honours the best in showbusiness. Kelly Brook, Pixie Lott and Alesha Dixon rubbed shoulders with the likes of Alan Carr and Sir Ian McKellen at the event - see all the pics below.

Corrie actress Kym Marsh has been named celebrity mum of the year, beating off a shortlist that included Katie Price, Holly Willoughby and Samantha Cameron. Mother-of-two Kym lost a baby earlier this year when son Archie was born 18 weeks early, and has recently reunited with his father, Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas, following a brief split.

It's only the beginning of November, but the stars have already come over all festive - they couldn't wait to watch the big Christmas lights switch-on in London, followed by the premiere of Jim Carrey's new film, A Christmas Carol.
