David Beckham Visits Sierra Leone

David Beckham has met with children in Sierra Leone as part of his role as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF. The England footballer spent time in Sierra Leone's capital, Freetown, before travelling to Makeni in the northern province, which has the highest number of under-five child deaths in the country. Becks asked the world not to turn a blind eye to "shocking" child mortality rates in developing countries: "Saving these children's lives is a top priority for UNICEF and as an ambassador I hope I can help to draw attention to this issue across the world."
