Young Celebrity Mums

As Charlotte is a celebrity, her child will be a celebrity too, with a price on its head in paparazzi terms – the amount of money a tabloid will pay a photographer for pictures of the child. That means any ‘new mum mishaps’ or genuine mistakes will be amplified ten-fold if they occur within view of the paparazzi.

Take Britney Spears – even before the singer's current meltdown, Britney had been criticised for her parenting skills as the paparazzi captured every mistake on camera, including speeding away from photographers with son Sean Preston unsecured on her lap, and nearly dropping him when she stumbled getting out of a car in high heels. Now leaked reports from Promises rehab clinic state that her erratic behaviour could stem from postnatal depression.

On the up side, celebrity super-mums like Angelina Jolie, Madonna and Victoria Beckham juggle large families with busy careers, seemingly with ease (and the help of a few nannies). It's just been confirmed that Angelina is expanding her brood yet again, filing papers this week to adopt a young boy from Vietnam.
